Chasing the Light

I had scouted this spot early in the day and planned to shoot it near sunset. Then I forgot that the time the sun sets is not the same as the time you lose light in the foreground!

I saw the light dropping and made a run to this spot in time to catch the last bits of light leaving the land. The end impact was a two-toned image which was (in my opinion) more interesting than had it been full of light. It really needed to be focus stacked, so I really only had one chance to do it. After two photos, the light was completely gone. It was a race, but getting to the spot a bit slowly turned into a good thing. I'll take it!

Shot with a Canon 5D IV, Canon 24-70 f/2.8L ii, LEE landscape polarizer, and a LEE little stopper. Processed in Camera Raw and Photoshop from two images (focus stacked).
