Cutting through the darkness

Well I guess it wouldn't have been an adventure if I didn't take a selfie. This is becoming a bad (or maybe good!) habit.

This was from the hermit trail - I managed to coerce myself out of my tent late in the eventing to get a good view of some really dark sky. What an incredible view this was.

Shot with a Canon 5D mark IV, and a 24-70 f/2.8L ii. Processed in Camera Raw and Photoshop from 9 images - and it was a bit complicated. 8 images were shot at quite high ISO in order to perform a noise reduction from an image stack. This was necessary because I using a slightly longer lens so I couldn't use quite as long of an exposure as I have in the past without star trails. The 8 images were copied and stacked 3 separate times - one stack to clean noise from the stars, one to clean noise from the landscape, and one to clean noise from the water reflection. The 9th image was the one with me in it. All images were combined and photoshop. Lot's of work, but I'm happy with the end result.
