What Lies Beneath

Abraham lake is known for it's incredible frozen methane bubbles every winter, and right after a good freeze the lake takes an incredible form: glass-like ice with suspended stacks of bubbles. I was a bit too late in the season to capture the full effect; a melt a few days earlier clouded the ice and took a bit from the classic look Abraham lake is known for. Wth that said, the cloudy nature of the ice created some wonderful blue hues to come through and combining that with an unusual sunset resulted in an interesting mix of warm and cold colours.

Not what I was expecting, but really pretty nevertheless. I'll take it!

Shot with a Canon 5D mark IV, 16-35 f/4L, and a LEE landscape polarizer. Three images focus stacked to maintain sharpness throughout the view, processed in Camera Raw and Photoshop.
