green sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus) at Lake Hendricks IA 653A7757

If I'm not looking for birds in my free time, I'm probably fishing and fall is a fantastic time for both activities. As the water in our local rivers and lakes cools down, the fish go on a feeding binge before winter shuts their metabolism down until next spring. This colorful green sunfish could compete with any fancy pet shop fish in an aquarium and I let it go to dazzle all the other fish swimming here at Lake Hendricks.
