Quiet Achiever

While Beyer Garratt 6029 was blasting up the Blue Mountains, down on the Thirlmere Loop Line 2705 scampers toward the front of its train for another trip to Buxton.

2705 has shouldered the majority of loop line workings since its return to steam in 1994, the little engine being ideally suited to the relatively low speed and lighter loads compared to those encountered by its larger counterparts.
