ALGERIA-ATTACKS-BOUTEFLIKA-JUSTICE COUNCIL

Algerian President Abdelazziz Bouteflika (C) shakes hand with an unidentified senior officer during an opening ceremony of "Algeria's Justice Council" headquarters held in Algiers, 15 April 2007. The Algerian head of State appeared in public for the first time since two suicide bomb attacks on the government headquarters and a police station in Algiers which killed 33 people. The bombings were claimed by Al-Qaeda's branch in North Africa, formerly known as the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), which published photographs of what it said were the three bombers on the Internet.
