Artfibers VINYA extrafine merino wool yarn, color 6

VINYA is a very chunky yarn plied form 32 individual strands of incredibly high quality merino wool. The spinning was done for us by a family mill in Japan. We do the dyework ourselves in Northern California.

This chunky yarn is ideal for pattern stitches. Its distictive texture as a fabric is very reminiscent of basketry, the kind made from sturdy but pliable vines. Hence the name, VINYA, Catalan for vineyard, where vines assume any form that you can imagine, and also nourish the imagination.

 

VINYA is custom plied for us from 32 individual threads of extremely fine merino wool. As we dye them the threads fuse into a supple mega-strand, incredibly cushiony and resilient.
