JAPAN LIVING BARBIE SEARS ACTION ACCENTS GIFTSET
I just got another Japan–made version of Dramatic Living Barbie that was sold there and that was also part of the Sears exclusive ‘Action Accents’ giftset that was only sold in the United States in 1970 and 1971. (You can see the box cover in one of the thumbnails… ) She’s wearing the swimsuit - which I love with that vinyl flower applique! - while my older gal is sporting the ice-skating outfit from that set, along with another look at the basic hot pink leotard that was the base of some of the outfits in the gift set. She was sold only as a Titian, even though the 1970 Sears catalogue incorrectly showed her as a blonde. These two gals look quite different from each other, but they are both in fabulous shape, with no loose joints, green marks or darkening/yellowing. As you can see, their eye screening is quite different, along with their eyebrows; (the one with the swimsuit has eyebrows that are much lighter and that are not as bold as the other gal’s eyebrows.) And you really can’t see it here, but they both also have more finely sculpted feet with toenails, which the common Taiwan-made versions don’t have … Love that little detail! They are staying in these outfits for a while (I also have the skiing jacket, boots and skis, so may change skating gal into that in the future,) but I may also probably dress them up in some other 1970 outfits sometime soon.
