SEARS SISTER
I always wanted the jacket and skirt from Skipper’s Sears exclusive ‘Young Ideas’ set, (a collection of items and accessories on card that were available in a variety of colours and fabrics for about four years from 1970,) in the variation that was made from the fabric of Barbie’s ‘Trail-blazers’ outfit that was released a couple of years before. Trail-blazers has always been a favourite early Mod-era outfit of mine, so one of my mintiest ‘Summer Sand’ TNTs is currently wearing it, to go with my favourite Titian long haired TNT Skipper … I didn’t have the top that goes with her suit from this set, so I improvised with Becky’s pink ribbed knit bodysuit. The bodysuit’s sleeves wouldn’t fit under the jacket and were too long for Skipper’s arms anyway, so I had a flash of inspiration and turned them into cute matching knee-high socks! I actually prefer this combination, so Skipper will be wearing this for a while now, I guess. Tutti’s friend Chris also came along for the ride, and Christie looks on while choosing what to wear from the closet in the 1968 Barbie/Stacey Sleep ‘N Keep case, which was also a Sears exclusive… (It was such a dark, cold and wet winter’s day today that I had to use flash photography again, but at least the hot colours from those terrific new looks warmed everything up!)
