Commencing countdown, engines on.

I have been trying all year to shoot the galactic core and the weather has not cooperated a single time. On the last opportunity of the year in the mid-Atlantic, there was ONE night that would have clear skies so I jumped in the car immediately after work and drove straight to Assateague Island.

Truth be told, this image was initially supposed to be a clean milky way photo that I could later use in a composite. I didn't even know there was a launch set for that night. But, I hit the shutter at exactly the right time and caught NASA's sounding rocket as it took off from Wallops Island.
