Common tiger beetle (Neocicindela tuberculata)

A brutal-looking endemic New Zealand insect, with large pincers reminiscent of bolt cutters. This was one of several scurrying and flying across sandstone bluffs along the north Taranaki coastline, no doubt looking for a meal to dice up!
