Komodo Dragon
The largest living lizard on the planet, the Komodo Dragon can grow up to an impressive 10 feet and up towards 150lbs. They are interesting in not only their size, but also that their mouths secrete a bacteria that has been studied over the years since it was originally considered a venom, but the toxic proteins that the Komodo Dragon secretes acts more like an anticoagulant which eventually works to weaken larger prey after a single bite. At which point, the Dragons follow the scent of their slowly dying prey where, communally, they will feed. I find them fascinating and impressive, to say the least. This one was shot at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia. © 2012-Current.
