80's Supercar - Miniland scale - Lego

This is the kind of stuff I really want to build and got me into building - cars of my own design, with no purpose or meaning other than to look cool and be crammed full of details. Some over-complication and an absurd amount of pieces later and we have this - some marriage of a 288 GTO, GT40 and Lancia 037. We've got the spicy opening tings, we've got the visible diff, we've got the central seat, we've got the raised exhausts WE'VE GOT THE RALLY FOG LIGHTS, you could ask for no more really. Except maybe some boot space but honestly those are out of a fashion

 

This was loads of fun to make - another build like various tuned models (Midget II, Polonez, 288 GTO) and own design models where there aren't any limits, but trying to make it look realistic is that challenge - and I don't think that side of things went too badly. I feel this is a plausible car design for the era, especially with the blatant disregard for safety or emissions or practicality.

 

In short, door wedges have never been so much fun - and I hope you enjoy viewing it as much as I did making it!
