GREEN WOODPECKER (Picus viridis)

The Green Woodpecker is the largest of the three woodpeckers found in the UK. They are usually solitary birds that feed on a very large number of ants. We were surprised that this one came into our garden in North Milton Keynes whilst we were sitting on the patio.
