BANK VOLE (Myodes gladiolus)
The length of the Bank Vole is between 8-12cm. It is the smallest British vole and is very agile and a capable swimmer! Bank Voles do not hibernate - they gather nuts and berries in the Autumn and store them in an underground larder. The breeding season starts in the Spring ending some time in June. They can produce several litters of between 3-6 bare skin babies. Well, we have at least two of them in our Milton Keynes garden so we may hear the patter of tiny feet!
