Eastern Arizona Cattle Country

Relics from the late 1800 - early 1900s. The windmill became a very familiar sight in the West as a means to pump water in what was otherwise arid land. I discovered this along Highway 60 just west of New Mexico.

It's been a very condensed week; I traveled through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and stopped for a visit with my father, uncle, aunt, and grandmother in Nevada. Tomorrow I will cross into Utah, through Colorado via the "nation's loneliest highway, US 50" and then on to Nebraska, Iowa, and finally back home late Thursday or Friday. I have missed my family most and my friends on Flickr too but have deeply treasured this rare opportunity to get a reminder of how far my country spans in size and diversity. I look forward to getting back to my routine and seeing what everyone else has posted during my travels. See you all soon.
