United State Bank
I remember hanging out here when I was a kid in 1977. It was so cool to climb up and sit between the pillars. I guess it was because of kids like me that the decorative barrier was installed. Heisler's Bootery is still up the street, celebrating 100 years of its family-owned business. When we moved to Brink street, New Era was still barely in business on the corner of Williams and Brink, across from Heisler's, Walgreens and Ace Hardware were also just steps away from this building. Baskin-Robbins sold Pink Bubblegum ice cream and Frank's Hobbyshop across the tracks sold low-grade fireworks. Don't tell my mom, but for fun, we also played in the abdandoned Jewel building where the Brink Street Market now stands. I seem to remember the one-way traffic on Grant and Williams also ran opposite of what they do today.
