Magician story paper, Happy Days, No. 74, March 14, 1896, Herman, the Boy Magician; or, On the Road with a Variety Show by N.S. Wood. Herman was a real act, nephew to magician Robert Heller, and appeared at the Fifth Avenue Theater in 1888. N.S. Wood (Nicholas Schaberger Woods), called "the Boy Actor" and "the Boy Hamlet" was a writer and actor who appeared in plays in theaters like Poole's, in plays like The Boy Detective, The Boy Scout, Out in the Streets and Orphans of New York (at a time when Richard Mansfield played Jeckyll and Hyde at the Harlem Comique). He also portrayed Hamlet at age 11, and was a character actor in many Thanhouser films, including Nicholas Nickleby in 1912 and The Picture of Dorian Gray in 1915.
