It's said that once the babies hatch, the male leaves and lets the female fend for herself. It was evident here. At one point the mom took off to get food for the young ones and left them alone.
For this shot, we laid on the sand for a good amount of time and didn't move till the mom trusted us. She didn't mind we were this close. Only a couple of photographers walked to this spot to see the colony.
