Cost of data per megabyte 12 and 24 corrected
WARNING: I get really wordy and over-analysey here. This is now the third version of this graph, mainly because as a science guy, I'm supposed to be quite anal about controlling for variables so that data can be compared appropriately. Basically, I've just had a brain fart while writing the description, so if you want to skip to the conclusion of what these two graphs mean, just scroll down and read the bit that's all in caps.
In this version, I've compared the cost of data per megabyte of the various plans again. But this time, in order to allow for a more accurate comparison of the data between the 12 and 24 month contracts, I've extrapolated the cost of extending the 12 month contracts by an extra 12 months, so that length of the contract as a variable is taken out of the equation. Interestingly, the contribution of the monthly cap fee is also removed. What this all means is that even though that we're looking at the variable of data cost per megabyte, THE REASON FOR THE 24 MONTH CONTRACTS CONSISTENTLY PROVIDING BETTER VALUE THAN A 12 MONTH CONTRACT THAT'S BEEN EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER 12 MONTHS IS BECAUSE THE OVERALL COST OF THE HANDSET IS LESS WHEN YOU COMMIT TO A 24 MONTH CONTRACT AT ANY GIVEN CAP.
My brain, it is borked.
