Last Gasp
Winter's last gasp holds on for dear life, as does the C40-9 leader on Sunday's train #309. What once numbered 123 units strong is down to only 23 remaining active, as these 1995 built Dash-9s are redone as widenosed AC units. Here the Binghamton, NY to Elkhart train passes through Amherst, OH at MP 212 on the Chicago Line. I will miss these "Tophats" on the NS roster, as another locomotive cab staple fades from Class I mainlines.
