Ancient Farm Implement

Sonoma County. Goldridge Road. At first I thought this was an old truck but after looking at it for a while I think it was horse drawn. The front end looks like a gas driven compressor and note the hoses hanging off the back. Is this some kind of sprayer? Help please.
