Song Thrush
These magical songsters are busy in the garden at the moment throwing the fallen leaves around in the borders searching for meals. They certainly run my beloved Hawfinch close as a favourite British bird. And they certainly give my local Nightingales a run for their money musically when they arrive in a couple of months. How I love to hear that tapping noise in some shrouded corner as they find another snail, and break it up on an anvil, usually a stone, but often just a patio slab. The remains of past snacks devoured scattered all around. This from a few months back, when they were busy feeding another brood. Fortunately I had four lots of youngsters raised in the garden last year by two pairs, fingers crossed again, Lakenheath.
