Stoffel.Concept.1

Not everyone stops to take a close look on what is truly surrounding them. If we do not look close enough there is a lot that can be missed. The central concept of the series is looking at the complex details in nature. Through common every day settings in nature there is always beautiful details that people tend to overlook. The focus on the details shows that even the simplest things can be very complex and beautiful. I captured my pictures at interesting angles to show the subjects in an angle that is uncommon, yet engaging.

These images present the concept through a macro setting. I wanted to focus on things in nature so first I brainstormed things that were commonly seen: flowers, weeds, and water. The first image shows the individual seeds falling off of a newly bloomed dandelion. The specific seeds that are falling off show the precise details on a common weed, making it beautiful. My snail picture shows my concept through the intricate sharp edges of the leaf contrasting the smooth, round curves of the snails. My flower picture shows my concept by portraying the center of the flower in a more interesting way, showing the details of the pollen verses the pink pedals. Every time it rains we walk past the droplets that form not recognizing the details that make them so interesting and notable. My last two photos shows the striking detail in a drop of water as a single drop let and multiple. The last photo shows the sharp reflection of the leaf on the pavement as well.
