Matt Firestone on Santex
Tex and Matt are shown here at Rolex 1985, trying out for the 1986 World Championships. They did not make the team, but were 3rd at the CCIO in Bialy Bor that fall. Tex was an Irish 3/4 bred, with smarts to match his power. After he retired, Tex and I "took the field" at the Piedmont Fox Hounds for several years. He was as good a fox hunter as he was an eventer. He watched the hounds, and when they moved off, he moved, and when they stopped, he stopped. I could have hunted him without a bridle.
