Hands and Feet

Along with other body adornments such as body painting, scarification, and lip plating, Suri women often wear many large metal bracelets and anklets. They are worn primarily for beauty and tribal identity, and each person may have a slightly different number of bracelets. Some wear a small amount while others can carry around an impressive stack. These bracelets are made of iron, brass or aluminum and can be quite heavy and numerous, though the resulting coils of metal can create a visually striking appearance when worn during daily life or during ceremonies.
