Synchrony

Vietnamese fishermen throw their nets in sync on the Perfume River in Hue. Throw net fishing is a tradition that likely dates back over a thousand years. While it is low tech, it works well in Central Vietnam's narrow coastal plains and river deltas, where there are seasonal fish migrations and shallow waters. In case you’re wondering, they do engage in cooperative throw net fishing. By synchronizing their throws, multiple fishermen can encircle or flush out schools of fish. This is especially useful in shallow lagoons, estuaries, or flooded rice fields where fish are scattered.
