Manpower
A couple rides a cycle rickshaw on the streets of Dhaka. Cycle rickshaws are by far the predominant mode of transportation in Bangladesh, especially for short distances. It's estimated that the country has over a million of these human powered rickshaws, far outnumbering the 50K or so of the auto rickshaws (pictured on the left). Dhaka alone, with a population of about 24 million people is estimated to have half a million cycle rickshaws. In India, the reverse is true - there are far more auto rickshaws (tuk tuks) than there are cycle rickshaws.
