Sunset at Ngoc Con Valley near the sleepy border town of Po Peo on the Vietnam-China border. Beyond the town is Chinese territory. Many ethnic minority groups live on both sides of the border and have been freely crossing the mountains for centuries visiting friends and relatives on the other side. While there I saw informal border crossings with just a single guard manning a barrier arm meant for locals to cross back and forth through a mountain pass.
