P645N II: Stendysserne ved Tustrup - kulthus

Temple at Tustrup

This house site is all that is left of a temple that, about 5,200 years ago, functioned as the ritual centre for the Neolithic burials in the three surrounding megalithic tombs.

In the middle of the house stood 28 intact clay vessels, which were identical to the grave goods found in the tombs. With its northeast-facing entrance and megalithic elements, the buiding's construction style resembles that of the tombs themselves. The temple was, however, only in use for a short time before it was burnt down, perhaps intentionally.
