My Filmcopier Rig II

My (partly home-made) filmcopier rig using a Pentax K-5 DSLR with a smc Pentax-M 50 mm F4.0 Macro and a Vivitar 20mm extension tube combined with an Asahi Pentax diacopier unit. These are mounted on a home-made wooden baseboard with a FotoMate macro slide. The setup can be adjusted in a number of ways and allows for copying of the full 35mm frame. A Pentax AF540FGZ (with extra diffuser) is used as a light source, connected via a Pentax sync cord 5p (coiled, 0.90 m max. extension) and Pentax hotshoe adapter Fg. the system is also perfect for copying of colour slides, as the flash ensures a balanced light source.

The camera is triggered via a JJC cable remote shutter release. A Seagull angle finder ensures a more ergonomic working position.

I use the flash in manual (M), 1/32 power, F11-F16 on the lens and make fine adjustments with the iso-setting (80-125 iso) on the camera according to the histogram, if necessary.
