CR VO Tower model board Butler, PA 1-29-1983.

A quick visit inside VO.

The VO Tower control board. B&O right-left, PRR-CR up-down.

The toggles at the bottom, 1-5-7-9 are for switches, 2-6-8-10 are for signals. #4 and #12 signals not used. Appears #12 was removed and electricians tape is covering.

In the middle center is a Trap Release button, used to clear the diamonds, if a train had to stop on the diamond and restart, may "confuse" the circuitry, or if the traffic was locked up over the diamond, the button was used to clear the circuit or issue (hopefully).

The upper right shows Air Pressure, that was the air pressure to the switches. I am uncertain what the normal operating pressure was, the alarm would activate when the air dropped to 45 pounds and then again at 20 pounds. When the system dropped to 20 pounds, there might be 1 "throw" left before the operator was helpless. A maintainer was called to trouble shoot the system.

Shamefully this isn't the sharpest photo. It was taken on a roll of 35mm movie film. It kind of acted like Ecktachrome but was versatile to make slides and prints. Convenience over quality. And shamefully I never duplicated more photos of this on Kodachrome. Why do that when you already have a photo of it?
