October 4 - Costa Rica
by KevinKSmith
On our own today so we took a different trail. The highlights were:
- seeing great looks at the two large crested woodpecker species - the Lineated and the Pale Billed.
- while waiting for better views of the woodpeckers a flock of 12 Yellow-Throated Toucans flew across a large field to eat some of whatever the woodpeckers were eating.
About 11:00 the rain started coming down and that was pretty much the end of birding for the day. In the evening we went on a Night Walk where we saw multiple snakes, frogs and a huge Walking Stick.
