Wild Fairy Dusters

These low-growing shrubs burst into flower this time of year in the Sonoran desert in areas between 2000 and 5000 feet of altitude. They are one of the first species to bloom. Their flowers are only an inch or two wide, with 20 or more filaments up to an inch long. One hardly notices the plants during the year, but in the spring, you can't miss them.
