"Unique"
This photograph represents “Something Unique” because I came across it so unexpectedly and it remains a treasure that was under my nose all along. After the countless times I’ve walked down Chestnut Street I somehow managed to overlook this very different Mexican restaurant. With a font that mimics that of an old theatre listing sign, this restaurant stands out from other center city establishments and this photo represents something unique.
The compositional techniques I used were shapes and balances and filling the frame. Shapes and balances is shown through the buildings structural composition. The repetition of the restaurant name, “El Rey”, the reflecting doors, outdoor lighting, etc. Since I could not take this photograph from a straight angle, due to construction, I would say that both of my compositional techniques were somewhat effective.
This photograph displays technical proficiency because I attempted to create a photograph that matched the essence of the restaurant captured. My exposure settings were f/8 and a shutter speed of 1/50.
