Ever hopeful
Scrawny checks my deck daily to make sure I haven't changed my mind about seeds. And honestly, I've put seeds out a couple of times, not for Scrawny, but because I want to get a nice shot of a Black-headed Grosbeak (which I did not get). My weakness is its incentive. You can see that Scrawny has scars on its face. Since it acts quite afraid of other raccoons, I think it probably had a few run-ins with larger members of its own species. I always chase it away with lots of noise. I don't want Scrawny to think humans are nice sources of food. I'd rather it was scared of us, for its own sake. It does seem to be putting on some weight though, so it's learning how to survive without Mama Playful.
