"The Astec Cosmos" by Tomas Filsinger, 1000 pieces, Pomegranate

According to the box, the 26-ton Aztec Sun Stone was carved in the late 1400's, and lay buried face down for two centuries. Discovered in 1790 by workers leveling Mexico City's main plaza, the stone is a cosmogram -- an image representing the Aztecs' concepts of space and time. In The Aztec Cosmos, artist Tomas Filsinger renders the stone's carved face with its elements colored according to the Aztec codices. He has also written a 32-page booklet -- included with the puzzle -- that sheds light on the meaning of many of those enigmatic elements.
