25_Onza Porcupine 27.5 x 2.6 Front

At the very beginning of mountain bikes, tires were large: as they were the only comfort component, with no suspensions on the bikes, a large enough size was mandatory. Starting 1990, with the rise of suspension forks, tires started to get narrower, focusing on lightweight and speed when rolling. The suspensions focused on comfort and the tires on efficiency.

A couple of years later, Onza launched the porcupine: a tire large enough to provide more grip than most others, strong enough to avoid punctures and light enough to be ridden on a daily basis in a variety of conditions.

This tire instantly became a market standard, with its round knobby’s.

30 years later, Onza brand has been resurrected and the iconic Onza Porcupine is back in the market. While the threats and patterns are modern, the spirit is unchanged: large enough to provide amazing grip, robust and not too heavy.

Actually Onza created the All-Mountain concept 30 years ago.
