16_SRAM Twistloc (1)

Before Shimano disrupted the market with the introduction of Rapidfire shifters, we use to have only over the bar thumb shifters (Campagnolo, Suntour and Shimano). Changing gears required to lose hands on the grips for a brief moment. And with no suspension, chances your hands slipped off the bar were high.

In 1989, a small company proposed the first twister grip shifting system: you turned a ring on the bar, and this was shifting your gears. First models were not working or not reliable, but the idea was there. And 8 years later, SRAM made the concept popular with the famous SRT800 X-Ray.

25 years later, SRAM still proposes a twist shifter option with their X01 and XX1 groupsets. Being addicted to shifters, I chose a Twistloc grip to lock my fork, as a tribute to these grip shifts I had dreamt of.
