Eurasian Jay (Garrulus glandarius), Sarigerme, Turkey

Among the few bird species which could be fleetingly glimpsed at Sarigerme, was the jay. This is the Middle Eastern subspecies, G. g. atricapillus, with a black crown. Birds in the area often kept furtively to cover in tree canopies. No doubt the shade was welcome in the 37° heat.

The Eurasian jay is distributed from Europe through Central Asia to Japan and Southeast Asia.
