Carib grackle (Quiscalus lugubris), Tobago Plantations, Tobago

The Carib grackle is the cheeky chappie of the Caribbean: it takes over the role of the house sparrow elsewhere by raiding the hotel restaurant at breakfast time, brazenly uttering its loud musical squawks from the backs of chairs. This is a member of the New World icterid family. The breeding range is restricted to the northern fringes of South America and the Antilles.
