Pigeon Point, Tobago
Tobago is certainly a dream destination for a relaxing holiday. The island is about 40 km long and has a resident population of about 60,000. Mostly of Black African descent, with some Indians and a very small number of indigenous Caribs and Arawaks. It is part of the twin-island state of Trinidad and Tobago. The distant coast of the island can be seen on the horizon on the right. It lies just 11° north of the Equator. This picture was taken on a Sunday.
The palm in this picture has been described as "crooked". In fact coconut palms naturally lean towards the sea, because this is their method of dispersing their seeds; the falling nuts float in seawater and may be transported to distant shores where the conditions allow them to take root.
