Eastern olivaceous warbler (Iduna pallida), Alykes, Lesvos, Greece

A warbler related to marsh, reed and sedge warblers, although less associated with wet habitats than these. It favours a variety of environments from semi-arid to open woodland. On Lesvos frequents bushes in open country. Here it poked its head briefly out of a clump of cow parsley. Has a loud scratchy song recalling those of Acrocephalus warblers. Breeding bird from southeastern Europe to the Middle East and North Africa.
