Ile de Port-Cros, apologies to Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot !
A 17th-century Vauban fortress crowns the hill of this French Mediterranean island. Beyond it the Côte d'Azur in the distance. To the left, the island's harbour and further to the left the tip of the uninhabited island of Bagaud. The islands are cloaked in virgin Mediterranean forest. From a slide taken in June 1970.
