Whooper swans (Cygnus cygnus) overwintering at Caerlaverock, Scotland
They will probably return to Iceland to breed. The stained head and neck of the foreground bird come from the tannin in the waters where it feeds on aquatic vegetation. Looks like this one is a bottom feeder.
