Enormous nuts hang from an endemic Coco-de-mer palm (Lodoicea maldivica), Praslin Island, Seychelles
This is in the amazing and unique forest of endemic palms in the Vallée de Mai on Praslin. With a weight of up to 30 kg each, these nuts are the largest seed in the world. You certainly would not want one to fall on your head. The only sound in the gloom is of the clattering of the palm fronds in the wind.
