Hoary marmot (Marmota caligata), Denali National Park, Alaska

The hoary marmot inhabits mountainous regions of northwestern North America, living near the tree line on slopes with vegetation to eat and rocky cover.

It is the largest North American ground squirrel and is often nicknamed "the whistler" after its high-pitched warning issued to alert other members of the colony to possible danger. From a high-ISO slide.
