Black-backed jackal (Lupulella mesomelas) , Etosha National Park, Namibia

Sheltering in the shade from the heat of the midday sun. The species has two disjunct populations, one in southern Africa

ranging north to Angola, another in East Africa from Tanzania to Eritrea.
