Lesser whistling ducks (Dendrocygna javanica), Thottada Backwater, Kerala

There were many more in this flock than my lens could encompass, all highly nervous; suspect they were not infrequently shot at. The species breeds from the Indian subcontinent to southern China and Southeast Asia. The whistling refers to the sound produced by the wings in flight.
