Ceropegia fusca, southern Tenerife, Canary Islands

This has to be one of the world's weirdest plants. A xerophyte -- adapted to arid conditions -- the hard 'skin' of its segments protects it from the heat and conserves what moisture it can obtain. Its leaves are vestigial, growing on the tips of the stems. A member of the dogbane family, it is endemic to the Canary Islands and grows only on three islands in the archipelago. From a slide.
